Cozy autumn feels without the $$ bills

Hi Reader :)

When the season changes, shops loooove to remind us of new decor to buy. So this month’s Wednesday Wisdom* is a list of 4 cozy fall decor ideas that don’t require spending money.

1) Showcase everyday items that have fall colors.

Maybe you have a few mugs that are orange, red, or yellow? Put them on display! Recently my son picked me a bouquet of wildflowers, I clipped the stems short and placed them in a teacup. It was a cute and fun autumn twist to a traditional vase.

Or maybe you have a beautiful burgundy sweater or a favorite orange hat that reminds you of fall? Take them out of your closet and hang them somewhere visible: on an empty hook, the back of a door, or directly on your wall - who says wall decor has to be in a frame?! 😉

Pro tip: Stack two books and place a mug and/or candle on top to create a cozy autumn centerpiece for your coffee table or bookshelf.

2) Make autumn-inspired art! Last autumn, in my sons’ Sunday School class, we picked fallen leaves and used them like stamps. We painted the leaves with watercolors and pressed them on paper. It was so simple and we had fun coming up with various color combinations and designs. The patterns turned out very pretty - easy art to hang up.

3) Bring in more textiles Find ways to add more textiles to rooms in your home. This could be as simple as draping a folded blanket over the back of your couch or finally putting up curtains you’ve had in your closet for months. Maybe you already have specific textiles you bring out in different seasons. For example, I have a wool table runner I only place on our coffee table in fall & winter.

4) Candles I bet you’ve got some unused or unfinished candles somewhere if you do some digging 👀

Pro tip: if you’re short on candle holders, create them with everyday items such as teacups or saucers.

There you go! If you try one of these ideas, please send me a photo! I love seeing what you create, especially the little details that bring you big JOY.

Lots of love, Yun-A
